Deepening the Scar

Hibi Fukaku, (ひび、深く lit. Deepening the Scar) is the fourth manga collection in a tankōbon short story collection of the Hotarubi no Mori e Manga, which included four romantic one-shot stories written by Yuki Midorikawa.
Set in the winter, Hibi Fukaku follows the tragic relationship between an older brother, Sou, and his younger sister, Ritsu. Very close in their youth, but then separated when their parents divorced, they are reunited eight years later when their parents get back together. Although their parents are now happy, the relationship between Ritsu and Sou is awkward since both have since grown up. Although Ritsu long for their relationship to return to how it was, she is still hurt that Sou chose to leave with his father when she had no choice.
Ritsu learns that Sou kept all of their letters from the past eight years, and when Sou makes efforts to act as they did before, both feel awkward and fight their romantic feelings for each other. On a cold walk home, embraces Ritsu and tells her that he is leaving up upon graduation that spring so that he won't tear the family apart again. When he leaves, this time he does not take the letters, nor does he write to Ritsu. Meanwhile, Ritsu wrestles with her emotions as she hopes for a reply.
